    • Hey, Brother!

Nice blog you got going here. Someday, I'm going to have to pry some time loose and make you take me sailing. Maybe in the Spring? Whoknows ... Or, maybe I'll win the lottery and buy the 20' Flicka I've always wanted and then we can race!

      Love ya, man - Mark

    • Dave,

That latest picture of Mini looks a little low in the water...

    • I'm a beginer with a 1964 Alacrity 19 project boat that I'd like to sail under London bridge on Lake Havasu in the trailer sailor regatta on Valentines day.

    • Richard, google Alacrity 19/ Vivacity group on yahoo, lots of helpful members. My ship is similar and I am just south of you in Port Townsend (wa/us), but you can get help on that group.

      Cheers, Jeff

    • I snatched an Alacrity 19, built by Russell Marine in 1965. I've gutted the inside due to years of rainwater inside. Converting to Junk Rigged with an unstayed mast and mizzen this winter in a heated shop. I'll send pix when launched. There's a junk rigged Vivacity 20 across the straight in Victoria, BC, hoping to visit next summer.

      Cheers,

      Jeff Clithero

    • Just acquired a Vivacity 20. Now sitting in shipyard after cleaning to remove 4 years of marine growth. Need advice on how to lower mast so can trailer it to my house. Also how does boom detach from mast?

Can anyone help, or refer me to another site?

      Thanks,

      Richard

    • I bought a 1969 Vivacity 3 years ago and have sailed it on Lake Huron. Daysailing only; I have rented a slip for a couple days at a time only to avoid trailering it every night.

I guess I'm a pretty amateur sailor because I can't imagine sailing this boat on the open Pacific. (The Port-Huron-to-Mackinac race doesn't even allow boats this small to enter.) So kudos to you for sailing to Hawaii!!

I don't use the cabin for anything except storing the boom, sails, etc. The boat collects rainwater from I can't tell where. I have been considering cutting the top off her and making a roomier daysailor out of her. Thoughts?

      Mike

    • Hey Dave, Great site and sailing to Hawaii is quite an accomplishment in a small boat like this. I have a Vivacity too. It needs more directional stability and I'm thinking of adding an aft skeg like you did. Can you show more pics of it and also pics of your streamlined keels? I will get pics of mine and send them for posting.

      Regards, Bill P.

    • It is all ancient history I know - - ex owner of Vivacity 20 hull # 429. Mainsail had VY429 on it. Last known to be at Fajardo, Puerto Rico in 1972, probably doesn't exist any more. Sure had some great week-ends on her. What was the sail or hull number of the Viv that sailed to HI ? Must have been a long passage for a boat that small. Cheers !!

    • Hi All.
